The original nucleus
of the Castle comprises a lookout tower (built in about 1000) which was
gradually incorporated into overall structure of the Castle. The whole
building was enlarged over the centuries (13th, 15th and 18th centuries)
and comprises three floors, plus attic and basement floors for a total
area of about 3.900 m2 . In the basement there is a splendid cellar with
large brickwork vaults and hewn stone walls. On the ground floor a 16th
century ceremonial staircase leads to the upper floors and to a tower
inside which an old prison is still preserved intact. The first floor is
extremely interesting for the frescoes decorating the entire ceiling of
the 16th hall of state. A walkway runs around the whole Castle from
where the whole of the underlying valley can be seen.
The Castle is
currently a private residence but it can be rented out for ceremonies
and congresses.
During summer, it is
also possible to rent both the building and the park. Thanks to its
architectural characteristics, the Castle is ideal for a wide variety of
social occasions. The part made available to the company can cater for
about 300 guests. As well as renting out parts of the building, the
company running the Castle of Lippiano may also provide supporting
services such as floral decorations, music (only a support to ceremonies)
and catering on request. The private church (17th century) will soon be
available for hire, too, along with an accommodation structure for the
guests of the Castle.
